  1. Cleopatra VII was an Egyptian queen and a member of the Ptolemaic dynasty, a descendant of Ptolemy, who was one of Alexander the Great’s generals.
  2. While Cleopatra was born in Egypt, she was a woman of Macedonian Greek descent.
  3. 18-year-old Cleopatra became the ruler of Egypt following her father’s death, taking the throne as Cleopatra VII.
  4. Cleopatra’s relationships with two prominent Roman figures, Mark Antony and Julius Caesar, played significant roles in her life.
  5. She first formed a romantic and political alliance with Julius Caesar, who was known as “Little Caesar.”
  6. After Julius Caesar’s assassination in 44 BCE, Cleopatra aligned herself with Mark Antony, a powerful Roman general.
