Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout will be undergoing surgery on his left knee to repair a meniscus tear, according to team general manager Perry Minasian.
The injury is the latest setback in the three-time MVP’s attempts to regain the form from earlier in his career. His 2024 season was off to an up-and-down start before the injury, as he leads MLB with 10 home runs through 29 games but has been slashing 220/.325/.541.
Since winning his most recent MVP award in 2019, Trout has played in more than 82 games just once. Injuries to his calf, back and hand have ended recent seasons prematurely.
The 11-time All-Star most recently played Monday, in which he drew a walk, stole a base and scored a run in the Angels’ win.
