Blue Jays’ Alek Manoah exits vs. White Sox with right elbow discomfort

Toronto Blue Jays starter Alek Manoah exited Wednesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox with right elbow discomfort, the team announced, a concerning development for both the team and the right-hander.

Manoah, making his fifth start of the season, experienced the injury during the second inning after throwing a sinker to White Sox center fielder Dominic Fletcher and then walked off the mound in obvious distress.

The team later said the 26-year-old was removed with right elbow discomfort but offered no further details, though Manoah’s velocity was down during the start compared to his previous outings this season.
