Brennan Johnson has not been called up to the Wales squad for their forthcoming fixtures and will miss Tottenham Hotspur’s trip to Luton Town on Saturday.
Johnson, a £47.5 million ($60.3m) summer signing from Nottingham Forest, was taken off with a hamstring problem away at Arsenal two weeks ago, and missed Saturday’s win over Liverpool.
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou said last Friday that the 22-year-old’s injury was “nothing too serious but he won’t be right for this week (the Liverpool game)”.
Postecoglou will offer an update in two days’ time (Friday) as to whether Johnson is likely to be back in time for Spurs’ first game after the international break — at home to Fulham on Monday, October 23.
Johnson, though, will miss Wales’ crucial Euro 2024 qualifiers against Croatia, who they sit three points behind, and Armenia, who they are level on points with.
Tottenham also have fellow wide players Ivan Perisic and Bryan Gil out injured, alongside Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso.
