Chelsea expected to reach agreement to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United

Chelsea are expected to reach agreement with Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho before the transfer window closes.

The 24-year-old former Borussia Dortmund forward is keen on a proposed move to Stamford Bridge.

He returned to United first-team training earlier this summer for the first time since September 2023 after refusing to apologise to manager Erik ten Hag following a dispute.

He was, however, left out of the squad for both of United’s opening games of the Premier League season which Ten Hag explained was due to an ear infection prior to the win over Fulham as well as the difficulties of finding places for everyone in his squad.

The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund, scoring three goals across 21 appearances to help the Bundesliga club reach the Champions League final.

Sancho joined United from Dortmund in the summer of 2021 in an £85m deal and is one of the first-team squad’s highest earners.

United are well-stocked in wide attacking options with Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Amad Diallo among Ten Hag’s options, while forward Joshua Zirkzee has been signed from Bologna this summer.

Chelsea have had another heavy summer of spending with Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Filip Jorgensen among 11 new signings to arrive in west London.
