Easy Spray Bottle Silhouette Art for Kids


Let’s bring out our inner artist with silhouette art for kids using spray bottles filled with paint! Nurturing the seed of creativity in our kids is a beautiful thing! My love for painting and all things art was developed at a very young age. I believe it was because of all the encouragement I received from my parents and teachers.

How to Make Silhouette art for kids

In Kindergarten, my teacher praised my work as if I was the next Picasso. I was far from becoming the next Picasso but she loved encouraging us. I’m sure she did this with every child. My desire is to find ways to help my children explore their artistic side and nurture their creativity!

We are going to use stickers and spray bottles filled with paint and water to make fun silhouette art. This is a great activity for preschool through early elementary-aged kids.

Supplies to make silhouette art

You need stickers, a spray bottle, paint, water, and paper to make silhouette art for kids
Gather stickers, paint, a spray bottle, and paper to make silhouette art.
  • White cardstock or thick paper
  • Stickers
  • Tempera paint
  • Spray bottle
  • Water

Instructions for making silhouette art

Step 1

Step 1 for making silhouette art is to attach stickers to paper.
Adhere stickers all over the paper that you want silhouettes of.

Have your kids place stickers where they want them on thick white cardstock. For our ocean scene, I used assorted letter stickers and sea life stickers.

Step 2

Spray a mixture of water and paint over the stickers.

In a spray bottle, mix 4 tablespoons of water with a 1/4 cup of paint. Spray over your stickers, covering the entire paper. Set your paper aside to dry.

Once your paint is dry, carefully remove all of the stickers.

Once your paint is dry, carefully peel your stickers off and you have your silhouette art masterpiece!

  2. Combine 1/4 cup of paint with 4 tablespoons of water in a spray bottle.
  3. Spray over the stickers covering the entire paper with paint.
  4. Set your art aside to dry.
  5. Once dry, remove your stickers.
