- Helen Adams Keller was a remarkable woman: she was an American author, disability rights advocate, political activist, and lecturer.
- Her book “Story of My Life” had a profound impact on the lives of others, inspiring countless individuals to overcome their own challenges and pursue their dreams.
- She was born on June 27, 1880, in Tuscumbia, Alabama, and died on June 1, 1968, in Easton, Connecticut. She lost her sight and her hearing after a bout of scarlet fever when she was 19 months old.
- Inventor Alexander Graham Bell played a crucial role in Helen Keller’s life by recommending her teacher, Anne Sullivan, who taught her to use touch and the manual alphabet, a kind of sign language, to communicate.
- Author Mark Twain was a close friend and supporter of Helen Keller, and they maintained a lifelong friendship.
