Kentucky’s Reed Sheppard, potential top-10 pick, declares for 2024 NBA Draft

After a standout freshman year, Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard is leaving the Wildcats to enter the NBA Draft.

Sheppard announced his decision in a video on social media, saying it’s time to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA.

“(Big Blue Nation), you have been with me from day one — faithful and passionate,” Sheppard said. “I am asking you to go with me on this journey.”

Sheppard, a native of London, Ky., averaged 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 33 games with the Wildcats, earning United States Basketball Writers Association National Freshman of the Year honors.

Sheppard was the No. 4 pick in The Athletic’s pre-NCAA Tournament mock draft.
