Leeds fan allegedly falls from top tier of stand after celebrating goal against Chelsea

A Leeds United supporter allegedly fell from the top tier of Chelsea’s away end in an FA Cup fifth-round tie at Stamford Bridge.

The incident allegedly happened when Leeds had taken the lead in the first half through a goal from Mateo Joseph.

The supporter, who sat in the upper tier of Chelsea’s away section, the Shed End, allegedly fell to the lower tier during the celebrations and was subsequently treated by medical staff.

Leeds and Chelsea said in a statement that an incident involving a supporter occurred “during the first-half of tonight’s FA Cup game”. They added that the matter “is being investigated and is in the hands of the emergency services”.

In January, a similar incident occurred when a Maidstone United supporter fell to the lower tier of Portman Road’s Cobbold Stand in their 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round win. It was later confirmed that no one was seriously injured.

The winner of the tie will secure a place in the FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City.
