Leicester's Ricardo Pereira out for four months with hamstring injury, Jamie Vardy's back issue to be assessed

Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira has been ruled out for four months with a hamstring injury.

Striker Jamie Vardy is also an injury concern for manager Steve Cooper with a back issue.

Both players were missing for the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

“Jamie picked up quite a nasty knock to his back last week,” Cooper explained.

“He was given every opportunity but just didn’t manage to shake it off. We’ll have to see how that goes.

“We are still trying to work out exactly what it is.”

Vardy, 37, started all 10 of Leicester’s Premier League games this season prior to Sunday’s defeat at United.

“Ricky’s injury is more conclusive and serious, a serious hamstring injury, and he is going to be ruled out for four months,” said Cooper.

“That’s a blow, especially for him. We have to support them both now in their recovery.”

Leicester, 15th in the table following the defeat at United, next play Chelsea following the end of the upcoming international break.
