It was another crazy weekend of Premier League action, so Matt Davies-Adams — in for James Richardson — called upon Daniel Storey, Colin Millar and Sasha Goryunov to make sense of it all on the latest episode of The Totally Football Show.
Darwin Nunez scored twice in stoppage time to give Liverpool a last-gasp 2-0 victory over Brentford, while Arsenal surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Aston Villa at the Emirates, losing more ground on Arne Slot’s men.
For Colin, Liverpool’s variety of attacking options has flipped an old adage on its head.
“When talking about a title race, (we) always talk about the defence winning titles,” he said.
“I look at the Liverpool and Arsenal squads; the options Liverpool have in the final third compared to Arsenal are just so much higher.
“Nunez has come in for criticism, but this is somebody who could weigh in with as many goals over a season as Arsenal’s No 9.”
Elsewhere, David Moyes claimed his first victory back in the Everton dugout as Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham fell apart in the first half at Goodison Park.
In Storey’s eyes, Tottenham are a house of cards that don’t require much to collapse.
“It feels like this is unravelling quite quickly. If you are anywhere near your best against Tottenham, if you try to ruffle any feathers, you will succeed because they are a personification of the manager,” he said.
“Everything can be nice when things are going well, but when you knock on the door, all the walls fall down.
“I understand there is a project, but that has to be married with a need to get points and wins in the short term. Managers are all slowly losing their jobs and he might be the next.”
