Meghan Trainor buys Zedd’s LA mansion

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Meghan Trainor has purchased a luxurious property in the upscale Los Angeles neighbourhood of Encino for just over US$17.1 million.

The contemporary residence, previously owned by electronic music star Zedd, was sold at a significant discount from its nearly US$19 million asking price when it hit the market in January, according to the Robb Report.

Trainor, famous for hits like All About That Bass and Lips Are Moving, acquired the two-storey mansion from Zedd, who had bought it from Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner for US$15.2 million in September 2021.

The property, built in 2019, spans almost an acre of land adorned with mature oak trees.

Designed by Jae Omar, the home boasts six bedrooms and 12 bathrooms within about 1393sq m of living space, featuring extensive glass walls for seamless indoor/outdoor living.

The mansion includes numerous luxurious amenities and custom upgrades added by Zedd.

These enhancements include a personal wellness retreat with a gym, sauna, and massage room, as well as a recording studio and vocal booth.

The entrance gallery, highlighted by a starburst chandelier and a floating staircase, leads to a formal living room and an office space.

The family room, with its fireplace, connects to a sleek kitchen equipped with top-tier appliances, an eat-in island, walk-in pantry, and breakfast nook.

Additionally, a secondary prep kitchen serves the formal dining room, which showcases a glass-encased wine display.

The upstairs area features a lavish primary bedroom occupying the entire floor, complete with a wraparound terrace, floor-to-ceiling fireplace, two walk-in closets, and a luxurious bathroom with dual vanities, a soaking tub, and a large shower.

Five additional guest bedrooms, each with its own walk-in closet and bathroom, are also on this level.

The picturesque grounds of the property include a putting green, lap pool and spa, fire-pit, outdoor kitchen, and expansive roof deck.

A two-storey guesthouse offers an authentic British-style pub and a state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos movie theatre, along with a garage that accommodates four vehicles.

This is not Trainor’s first real estate venture in Encino.

In 2020, she and her husband, Daryl Sabara, purchased a mansion in the neighbourhood for US$6.6 million.

Recently, the couple acquired a modern farmhouse-style home in the area for US$3.1 million.

Zedd, meanwhile, has moved to an even larger nearby property, buying a Nordic-inspired mansion for US$18.4 million last year.

David Kramer and Andrew Buss of Hilton & Hyland/Forbes Global Properties held the listing, with Justin Paul Huchel of Carolwood Estates representing Trainor.
