The North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) has launched early engagement on a planned eight-year framework for construction materials.
A preliminary market engagement notice was published on 22 April to inform potential suppliers of NEPO’s intention to procure aggregates, concrete, mortar, kerb and flag stones, and other associated products under the open framework.
The framework will run from September 2025 to September 2033, covering a wide range of construction products.
Its estimated total value including VAT is £270m.
The procurement will be available to contracting authorities across the North East of England. NEPO is seeking supplier feedback to shape the final scope and commercial model of the framework.
An online questionnaire will be made available via the Open e-Tendering system until 2 May. Interested firms must register on the system to submit their responses. NEPO will also host an optional supplier meeting via Microsoft Teams on 1 May.
NEPO stressed that the engagement is not a method to reduce procurement timescales, nor does participation in the market consultation indicate any obligation to tender. A full tender notice is expected to be issued by 28 May.
