Ports work worth £750m up for grabs

Maritime infrastructure giant Peel Ports is seeking contractors for £750m of work.

The organisation, which owns and operates six key facilities around the UK and Ireland, posted an official notice of its general and marine construction frameworks.

The deals will deliver design-and-build services and last for eight years.

A North West general construction lot will cover tasks including road and rail construction, paving and warehouse refurbishment in the area and is valued at £235m.

Similar arrangements for Scotland and South East England are expected to be worth £80m and £15m respectively. A Dublin deal is estimated at €5m (£4.3m).

Marine construction lots will feature the construction of jetties, fenders, berths, quay walls, revetments and other elements.

These are expected to be worth £73m in the North West, £37m in Scotland and £5m in the South East.

A national major works lot has an estimated value of £300m.

Contractors have until 29 April to declare their interest in the work.

Peel Ports owns and operates facilities in Liverpool, Heysham, Manchester, Medway, Clyde and Great Yarmouth as well as a container terminal in Dublin.

The company said its latest frameworks would improve efficiency of delivery through collaboration and early engagement with the supply chain.
