SUBSCRIPTION PROFILE Stripe & Stare

This female-founded brand launched in 2017 after recognising that “modern women are too fun for frumpy underpants and too busy to wear anything uncomfortable that won’t support her throughout the day”. With a love of bold colours and a good print, the subscription service sees a pair of underwear delivered directly to subscribers’ doors at the start of each month.

Subscribers can choose their preferred style and colour, and can change their selection or cancel their subscription at any time.

Stripe & Stare, which has been certified B-Corp, uses biodegradable materials made sustainably in Austria from Beechwood Trees. The Stripe & Stare fabric is scientifically proven to be three times softer than cotton, wears better and is “just as breathable as fresh air in a forest of responsibly planted trees”.

The company also plants a tree for every order, and uses 100% recyclable and biodegradable packaging.

Initially offering a pants subscription service, the brand has grown to introduce a range of bras, launched on M&S platform, and in January teamed up with London-based fashion brand Rixo for a limited-edition collection of underwear and nightwear.

The subscription company also offers a no cost, bespoke mentoring programme to enable female-led businesses to thrive. Due to its research which highlights less than 2% of Venture Capital funding goes to female founded businesses, with 55% of women citing fear of going alone as a reason not to start a business, the brand introduced the The S&S Foundation. It provides one-to-one mentoring sessions, a tangible workstream plan, access to the S&S team to problem solve on issues such as socials, website and design and many more practical tools to help women start their own business, and succeed.
