Texans WR Tank Dell sustains minor wound in Florida shooting, released from hospital

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was shot in Sanford, Fla., on Saturday night and sustained a minor wound. He has been released from the hospital and is in “good spirits,” the Texans said Sunday.

“We are in contact with (Dell) and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time,” the team said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident.”

Dell was a third-round draft pick by Houston in 2023. He had 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns through 11 games last season and was a go-to target for quarterback C.J. Stroud during multiple of the team’s memorable late-game comebacks.

The Texans placed Dell on the injured reserve list after fracturing his fibula against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 3, but he has participated in their offseason conditioning program this spring.

Dell, 24, is from Daytona Beach, Fla.
