USMNT captain Tyler Adams has been named in a Premier League squad for the first time since March 2023 after being listed among the substitutes for Bournemouth’s fixture against Sheffield United.
The midfielder last featured in the Premier League for Leeds United against Brighton on March 11 last year, before having the last 12 months of his career disrupted by a hamstring injury.
Adams joined Bournemouth from Leeds in the summer but was struggling with a hamstring issue after missing the final three months of the 2022-23 season. He then played 20 minutes as a substitute during the 2-0 Carabao Cup third-round win over Stoke City on September 27 before returning to the treatment table.
The 25-year-old featured for Bournemouth’s development side during their 5-0 win over Colchester Under-21s during the week and Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola said he was progressing well in his recovery.

“I don’t think we will recover anyone ahead of the weekend but while Tyler Adams is not still fully ready, he played 30 minutes with the development squad this week,” Iraola said on Friday.
“He’s feeling well in the process, we could put him on the bench because we have spaces for him.
“Personally, it may be a good thing but he’s continuing his process and still lacks more training. But he’s doing well.”
Adams gradual return to fitness comes ahead of a big summer for the USMNT, with the 2024 Copa America on home soil.
Bournemouth sit 13th in the Premier League and after Saturday’s visit of Sheffield United host Luton Town on Wednesday.
