Minnesota Vikings cornerbacks Mekhi Blackmon and Byron Murphy each notched a fourth-quarter interception to seal their team’s 27-19 win against the New Orleans Saints. Here’s what you need to know:
- Jameis Winston checked in for injured Saints quarterback Derek Carr with New Orleans trailing 27-3.
- Winston and the Saints scored 16 unanswered points in the second half to pull within a possession of tying the score, but the Vikings DBs picked off Winston on back-to-back drives.
- Josh Dobbs, making his second start for Minnesota since being traded from the Arizona Cardinals, threw for 268 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 44 yards and a score.

What did we see from Josh Dobbs?
More magic. Dobbs’ most impressive play of the day was questionably a third-and-6 scramble in the red zone for a touchdown in the second quarter. He dropped back to pass from the shotgun, looked right, then left and decided he had nothing. He turned to scramble, his back facing the end zone, then Houdini’d his way out of a muddied pocket. With one man to beat out on the left edge, Dobbs chop-chopped his feet and beat Saints cornerback Alonte Taylor to the pylon. The touchdown lifted the Vikings to a 10-3 lead.
Minnesota had to fend New Orleans off in the second half, but ultimately, the first-half barrage proved to be enough. — Alec Lewis, Vikings staff writer
What’s next for Dobbs?
A nationally televised game. Next week, the Vikings will travel to Denver to face the Broncos on “Sunday Night Football.” He’ll have trusty weapons in T.J. Hockenson and Jordan Addison, but the real question is: Will he have Justin Jefferson?
The superstar wide receiver is eligible to return. Jefferson practiced this week, but the Vikings said they were not going to rush it. Jefferson could still be given another week, considering hamstring strains are nothing to mess with.
But if the Vikings, sitting at 6-4, and having won five in a row, were interested in injecting further life into their offense (and team), a Jefferson return to provide Dobbs another weapon would do just that. — Lewis
