Warriors waive guard Chris Paul after 1 season: Sources

The Golden State Warriors are waiving Chris Paul, league sources confirmed Sunday. The point guard had a $30 million non-guaranteed deal for 2024-25 with the Warriors and a Friday deadline for that deal to become fully guaranteed.

Paul, 39, ranked 16th in The Athletic’s John Hollinger’s latest NBA free agency rankings.

After joining Golden State last summer in a trade that sent Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards, Paul averaged a career-low 9.2 points per game through 58 contests (18 starts). He averaged 6.8 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game last season, primarily as a veteran leader coming off the bench

The 12-time All-Star has played for six teams — the New Orleans Hornets, LA Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns and Warriors.

This story will be updated.
