Wates and Equans are among 100 contractors named on a bumper framework focusing on social-housing repairs.
Wates’ property arm, Wates Property Services, and Equans Regeneration scooped spots along with Seddon Construction, Mitie’s property services business and Lovell Partnerships on the £3.2bn framework, which is run by social-housing consortium Efficiency North.
The 100 contractors (listed below), will carry out repair and installation work, including electrical, heating, roofing and brickwork. According to Efficiency North, 85 per cent of the contractors selected are small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
The framework will run for four years, from 26 February 2024 to 25 February 2028, and will cover projects in Yorkshire and the Humber, the East Midlands and the North West.
Efficiency North said the framework was procured under its new generation of tenders, known as Gen4, which incorporates “dynamic models for ESG [environmental, social and governance] delivery, reflecting many of the themes in the government’s Constructing the Gold Standard report”.
The framework will replace the current iteration which began in 2019. According to Efficiency North, it has already delivered more than £272m of repairs, maintenance and installation work under the current framework.
Efficiency North’s procurement arm EN:Procure ran the procurement procedure.
EN:Procure director of operations Emma Mottram said the framework was “structured to encourage SME engagement”.
“We will be supporting them on their journey to delivering robust ESG targets,” she added.
She also said the Gen4 framework model will provide a “higher level of transparency and underline the power of collaboration”.
“It will also pave the way for the social-housing sector to achieve decarbonisation targets and improve sustainability.”
